BCS@Home

Bearspaw Homeschooling

Unique Qualities: BCS@Home offers several distinct programs with varied levels of parent and teacher involvement to suit the unique needs of each registered homeschool family. Families can choose either Traditional Home Education (Grades K-12), Print-Based Distance Education (Grades 1-6), Online Education (Grades 7-12) or a combination of Traditional Home Education and Distance Education through Shared Responsibility (Grades 1-12).

With Traditional Home Education, parents are responsible for planning, supervising, and assessing their child's education, and a BCS@Home facilitator visits twice during the school year to provide ongoing support, feedback and assistance to the family as requested. With Print-Based and/or Online Education, BCS@Home teachers are responsible for all planning, course delivery, and student assessments. With Print-Based Distance Education (Grades 1-6), BCS@Home provides all of the curriculum and materials for the core courses and options, and a BCS@Home teacher delivers lessons to students to help guide them through the materials provided. With Online Education (Grades 7-12), curriculum is delivered by BCS@Home teachers through synchronous and asynchronous lessons over an online format, and students also have the option of attending office hours for additional one-on-one support.

In Addition, to these core programs, students can enrol in the BCS@Home Blended-Hybrid Program for Grades 1-9, which runs in both a North Calgary and a South Calgary location. Blended hybrid learning occurs when there is a complementary in-person and online component to student learning. In the BCS@Home Blended-Hybrid program, students attend classes in-person one-day-a-week in the North or South of Calgary, and learn Science, Art, Physical Education and Bible for Grades 1-6, or Physical Education, Bible, Health and Options for Grades 7-9.

To view a summary document for all of our BCS@Home program options, check out our website.
